Members of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company ventured south to Kent Island this past Sunday to participate in Kent Island's 2nd Annual Firefighter Auto Extrication Competition. Eight other teams from Maryland and Delaware including members of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company also competed. Teams were required to stabilize a vehicle, displace the dashboard 30 inches, and remove all of the glass, four doors and the vehicle roof. The volunteers from Jarrettsville placed 2nd in the competition and had the fastest time of the day at 8 minutes 54 seconds. We would like to thank the communities we serve for their continued support and the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department for their hospitality.
