Pool Rescue Drill
By EMS Chief Mike Hays
August 2, 2010
Members of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company and the Lifeguards at the North Harford Swim Club participated in a joint pool rescue drill on Monday, August 2nd. In mock scenarios, lifeguards, firefighters, and EMTs practiced stabilizing patients with suspected diving injuries and securing them to backboards for transport. Before and after the drill, everyone enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, side dishes, and desserts provided by the fire company and its members.
JVFC would like to say "Thank you!" to the management at NHSC for providing us with access to the pool for this training event.
The Lifeguard at North Harford Swim Club spots a swimmer "in trouble" and dives in!
Jarrettsville Volunteer Firefighters and EMTs secure and immobilize the "patient" to prevent further injury.
A "rescued" swimmer is removed from the pool and ready for transport.
Top Chefs Fruhling and Simpson prepare burgers and hot dogs for the hungry rescuers and their "patients."
