The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle accident and two working fires today. The day started off with an early morning 10-50 PI at the intersection of Anderson Lane and West Jarrettsville Road at 01:14. Rescue 751 and Medic 791 called en route and soon arrived on a single vehicle which had veered off the roadway and rolled over. One patient was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for further evaluation.
Approximately two hours later, the Company was alerted to respond two engines and the supply unit to the 2800 block of Sheppard Road in Baltimore County (Hereford VFC Box 44-12), at 03:56. Engine 712, followed by Engine 714, called en route and arrived as the 4th and 5th engines. Crews assisted units on the scene with a working fire in an approximately 70'x80' barn which was fully involved. JVFC personnel assisted with containment of the fire and overhaul operations while Engine 714 and Engine 712 shuttled water to the fire ground. Units cleared the scene at 07:52.
The second working fire of the day was alerted at 15:21 and sent JVFC units to the 1400 block of Knopp Road. Engine 714 was the first to arrive and reported fire in a fully involved 60'x60' barn. Rescue 751 arrived behind Engine 714 and began to pull two 1 3/4" hand lines and also a 2 1/2" preconnected hand line. Engine 712 laid 5" LDH down the long lane to supply water to the fire. Crews from Bel Air and Fallston assisted in controlling the fire.
