The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a dwelling fire in the 3900 block of Norrisville Road at 01:43. Chief 7 was advised by Dispatch that a neighbor called 911 reporting they saw a house behind them on fire. Engine 714 quickly responded with six personnel onboard. When they arrived, fire had already burned through the roof of a large 2-story home and a second alarm assignment was requested.

Engine 714's crew advanced two, 1 3/4" hand lines into the building and attacked the fire; Rescue 751 laid approximately 700 feet of 5" hose down the lane to the fire ground; and Chief 7 established Norrisville Road Command.

Due to the extent of the fire and overhaul, Command requested a third-alarm assignment at 02:39, bringing additional engines from Baltimore and York Counties. The fire was declared under control at 03:13 and the extensive overhaul began. Crews remained working on the scene until approximately 05:45.
