The Maryland State Firemen's Association held its annual rural water drill at Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company this past Sunday. Units from all over the state of Maryland, Pennsylvania and even a representative from Ohio came to Jarrettsville to share techniques and perform a drill resembling flowing water in a rural setting where fire hydrants are not available. After a breakfast provided by the JVFC Auxiliary, crews were split into "Alarms" and responded accordingly. As the "fire" grew in size the water flow also increased bringing more equipment to the scene. In the course of the two hour drill over 150,000 gallons of water flowed onto the "fire." A post-incident analysis was performed after the drill at Jarrettsville VFC where a delicious lunch was provided by the Auxiliary.
