Fire Hydrant Training with Bel Air VFC
Drivers and firefighters from Company 7 went to Forest Hill on Monday, June 18th, for a drill on fire hydrant operation. We were assisted by Bill Marshall from the Bel Air V.F.C. and Engine 313 from the Forest Hill Substation.
The purpose of the refresher was to ensure that everyone understands the proper operation, the dangers of improper operation, and how to safely operate fire hydrants. The proper use and operation of Jarrettsville's Hydrassist valves was also taught.
While Jarrettsville does not have any fire hydrants in our first due, mutual aid calls can find an engine from Jarrettsville in Bel Air or even on York Road in Cockeysville. It is therefore important that everyone understands how the hydrants and valves work.
Many thanks to Bel Air and their Forest Hill crew for their assistance.
Units participating: E711, E712, E714, E313
