| On Wednesday, September 2nd, the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company took delivery of new rescue tools from Amkus. The purchase of the tools was funded, in part, by a MIEMSS Highway Safety 50/50 Grant. The new tools will be added to the complement of Amkus rescue tools we currently have and carried on the new Rescue 751 when it is placed in service later this year.
An Amkus AMK-30CRT Spreader with over 17,000 lbs. of spreading force and a spreading distance of 32 inches was purchased. The spreader also has removable tips which allow them to accept the new chain package or the Extended Reach tips, increasing the spreading capability to 40 inches.
Also purchased was the Amkus AMK-22 Cutter. This is the newest cutter made by Amkus, designed to cut the new, harder metals being used in cars today. The cutter has over 200,000 lbs. of cutting force.
Many thanks go out to the individuals who helped with the grant to acquire these new tools for the new rescue truck.
