| With the help of mutual aid companies from Harford, Baltimore, and York Counties, 2 of Jarrettsville's cisterns are now completely full. The 50,000 gallon cistern located at Company 7 House 1 was partially emptied last Tuesday and the new Jarrettsville Library's 30,000 gallon cistern needed filling. Using Jarrettsville's Supply Unit, 70,000 gallons of water was pumped from Grimmel's Pond. This necessitated 2 sets of hard-suction hoses and three 5" LDH fill lines from SU781's 1500GPM QMAX pump. The 3rd supply line was hooked to the dry standpipe which runs under Federal Hill Rd. This allowed the tankers to dump their load at the firehouse, fill up at the draft site, proceed to the library and dump, fill up at the draft site heading the opposite direction, and continue to the firehouse to dump again. This was all done while keeping the main road into Jarrettsville open. Thanks again to the Level VFC, Norrisville VFC, Fallston VFC, Citizens Fire Company of Fawn Grove, Eureka Fire Company of Stewartstown, and the Hereford VFD for their help. |
