Jarrettsville VFC was alerted for a 10-50 PI with rescue just north of the intersection of Norrisville Road and Jarrettsville Pike at the entrance to Bethel Presbyterian Church at 1713 hours. Engine 711 was the first unit to arrive at the incident involving the head-on collision of two automobiles, trapping one subject in a white station wagon and injuring a second. Engine 711's crew initiated patient care while the crew of Rescue 751 began extrication procedures. This involved removing both front doors, the windshield, and roof, and rolling the dash away from the entangled patient. The driver's door of the second vehicle was also removed to create enough space to safely remove the patient from that vehicle.

After the medic units at the scene assessed both patients, it was determined they would need further evaluation at a trauma center, bringing MSP Trooper 1 to the scene. Trooper 1 transported both patients to the University of MD Shock Trauma Center. Once the medevac unit cleared, all other remaining units cleared the scene at 1834 hours. JVFC Fire Police remained on location, detouring traffic around the scene until the vehicles were removed from the roadway.
