Dwelling Fire 715 Box

The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported basement fire in the 4000 block of Old York Road at 04:27. Engine 714 was the first unit to arrive on the scene of a single-story rancher with heavy smoke showing from the alpha (front) side.

Engine 714's crew advanced a 1^3/4-inch hand line through the basement sliding door to the source of the fire. Jacksonville Engine 473 was the second engine to arrive and advanced another hand line to the 1^st floor to check for any extension and to protect the stairwell. 714's crew found furniture on fire near a wood stove with mild extension into the ceiling. The entry crew quickly knocked out the flames and the fire was declared under control at 04:51. Crews remained on the scene for salvage and overhaul of the building and cleared at 06:26.
