| The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company held their annual banquet on February 2, 2013. The evening started with a social hour followed by a memorial service, led by the JVFC Chaplain, Rev. Terry Murphy, for members Connie Tipton Martin and Richard Douglas Fleming who passed away in 2012. They will be missed, but not forgotten. Following dinner, Past Chief of the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Company, Claud Gamble, introduced President Ted Burkhardt who started the evening's program by thanking the outgoing directors for their service and introduced the members of the Board of Directors for 2013: President - Ted Burkhardt
Chief Rudy Walter presented his annual report and numerous awards honoring members for their exemplary work during the past year, their dedication to staffing the stations during Superstorm Sandy, and for their service on various committees. Several members were recognized for their years of service: William Grove was presented the C. Edwin "Bunk" Grimmel Sr. Award for his 50 years of active service to the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company and John Simpson, III, was inducted into the Harford/Cecil Firemen's Association Hall of Fame. Lucy Grimmel was inducted into the Harford/Cecil Ladies Auxiliary Hall of Fame and Mike Hays and Malea Daughton were each recognized for having served 5 consecutive years as the head of their respective divisions. Other service awards included:

Following the reports and presentations, the company danced the night away to music provided by M.C. Productions. In addition, the officers and members of the company would like to thank Level VFC for the engine fill-in, and Whiteford VFC for the medic unit fill in. This allowed our members to enjoy the dinner and banquet while the community of Jarrettsville remained well-protected.
