The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a chimney fire in the 4400 block of Fox Chaser Lane at around 19:00. Engine 711 followed by Engine 714 arrived on a split-level dwelling with nothing evident. Command soon upgraded the incident to light smoke inside the dwelling. Crews went to work clearing out the firebox and laddering the roof of the dwelling. The source of the smoke was a crack in the chimney's structure. Crews remained on scene for a short time before being placed back into service.
