Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a dwelling fire in the 3800 block of Federal Hill Road at around 07:30. Engine 714 called en route right after the alert and arrived on a split-level single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing from all sides. Engine 714's crew went to work and advanced hand lines into the dwelling making an interior attack. Crews found a basement fire with extension into the attic space. Due to a heavy fire load in the attic and inside the dwelling, the fire advanced and spread quickly. Other Jarrettsville VFC units along with mutual aid from surrounding companies assisted in putting out the blaze. Crews were on-scene for over 3 hours to overhaul and ensure complete extinguishment of the dwelling.

Thank you to the Jarrettsville Auxiliary and Bel Air Ladies Auxiliary for providing refreshments for crews on scene.
