The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for multiple incidents during a pop-up storm that brought rain and lightning to the Jarrettsville area. Numerous calls were received for miscellaneous incidents: from smoke inside dwellings to reported lighting strikes. During this time two separate working fires were dispatched only 4 miles apart. The first incident was dispatched at 22:43 hours located in the 1500 block of Steeplechase Drive. Crews arrived at the scene of a detached 2-story garage, fully involved in flames. A blitz fire attack was used to extinguish the blaze by blasting it with as much water as possible to knock it down as quickly as possible. The second fire call was dispatched at 22:51 hours located in the 1200 block of Bonaire Road where crews encountered an attic fire with smoke on all floors.
