By Assistant Chief Bryan Schulz
April 26, 2016

The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted just before 1:00 p.m. for a dwelling fire located in the 3900 block of Boxwood Road. Engine 714 quickly responded and arrived at the scene of a split foyer dwelling with a fully involved attached garage with extension into the house. A second alarm was requested bringing additional units to the scene. Windy conditions along with a heavy fire load aided in the fire's rapid growth. Due to extensive overhaul, crews remained on-scene for 3 hours before being placed back into service. The nature of the fire was determined by the State Fire Marshall as accidental.
