This past Monday around lunchtime, one of Jarrettsville's former members stopped by the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company to say hello. Ken Lowe and his wife Jean moved from Jarrettsville in the early '70's and now reside in Texas. They were in the area to see friends and decided to stop in and see what has changed in 35 years.
Ken told how he and Todd Lloyd took the very first emergency ambulance run on Jarrettsville Pike for a baseball player who had ruptured his spleen. They transported him to Union Memorial Hospital.
The Jarrettsville Lion's Club first started the ambulance service in 1956.
